What's the difference between Tempur-Pedic® mattresses and all the other "memory foam" mattresses?

As so often happens when a truly successful product comes along, knock-offs have sprung up everywhere, to share in the success. Many of our competitors use the power of the Tempur-Pedic® brand to lure customers and then switch tactics to sell their own imposter brands. We only carry only official Tempur-Pedic® products. We value our relationship with Tempur-Pedic® and we are proud to be an authorized dealer.

Beware of any salesperson or advertisement that states: "Compare to Tempur-Pedic®." We have compared and kicked the tires, and there is no comparison. Competitors have tried to copy the TEMPUR® material, but they have failed. The formula for the TEMPUR® material is a guarded trade secret. It's far more resilient and consistent than any knock-off memory foam. Additionally, Tempur-Pedic® manufactures the only mattresses and pillows recognized by NASA and certified by the Space Foundation.

Why should I buy a Tempur-Pedic® foundation?

Good question. There are several reasons to purchase the Tempur-Pedic® foundation. The first and most important is that Tempur-Pedic® will only warranty the mattress if it rests on a Tempur-Pedic® foundation. Secondly, the foundation has a softer side on the top which works in conjunction with the mattress to effortlessly support your body while you sleep.

How do I maintain my Tempur-Pedic® Mattress?

No turning, rotating, or flipping of the mattress is required. The Tempur-Pedic® mattress is guaranteed to keep its original shape for 20 years.

What is the Tempur-Pedic® Mattress Cover?

The Tempur-Pedic® mattress cover is a moisture proof liner with breathable, micro pores. It will not heat up beyond your body temperature, yet it will repel dust mite food sources like dead skin and humidity. The cover is hypoallergenic and zips off on all four sides. You can leave the bottom part under the mattress and wash the top part in cold water. Hang to dry if possible, or put it in the dryer on air dry with no heat. Then match up the zippers and zip it back up.

While the naturally treated, terry-cloth cover helps eliminate spores, fungi and, most importantly, dust mites and their excrement, we recommend covering the bed in our Platinum Mattress Protecter to protect your investment and keep the dust mites away.

What kind of warranty comes with a Tempur-Pedic® mattress?

All Tempur-Pedic® mattresses come with a 20-year limited warranty. Tempur-Pedic® Inc. guarantees that your Tempur-Pedic® Swedish Mattress™ will be replaced or repaired at the company's option, without cost to you, should it be deemed defective because of faulty workmanship or structural defects during the first ten (10) years of the warranty, excluding the specific limitations contained herein. It is understood that this limited warranty does not include a normal increase in softness of the TEMPUR® material or a decrease in the slow recovery feature - aspects which do not affect the pressure-relieving qualities of the foam. It does cover any deterioration in the cell-structure of the foam that causes the mattress to have a visible indentation greater than three-fourths (0.75) of an inch, not associated with a sag in the foundation, box springs, or platform. It also covers any physical flaw in the mattress that causes the foam to split or crack despite normal usage and proper handling. If such defects occur during the remaining ten (10) years of this limited warranty they will, at their option, repair the mattress at a handling cost to you, or replace the mattress at a prorated charge to you. During the first year of the prorated, 10-year period, the prorated replacement charge will be fifty (50) percent of the original purchase price. The prorated charge will increase by five (5) percent for each subsequent year of the prorated period. It is understood that the mattress Foundation is warranted against manufacturer defects and structural flaws under the same stipulations as above. The mattress cover is warranted for two (2) years against faults in material or workmanship. All warranties contained herein shall not apply if the mattress, foundation, or cover has been physically damaged, burned, cut, torn, or is abnormally soiled or unsanitary. This warranty is valid only to the original purchaser of the product. All transportation costs are the responsibility of the purchaser and are additional to any prorated charges. You must provide proof of purchase for any warranty claim. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state.

If I decide to purchase directly from Tempur-Pedic®, will I receive a better price?

Although prices are strictly mandated by our manufacturer, we do offer some very valuable incentives to purchase from The Mattress Department, such as free shipping. Additionally, it is unlikely that Tempur-Pedic® would try to undercut dealer pricing. We will honor pricing or discounts that Tempur-Pedic® may have offered you.

Do you have a have trial period, and what happens if I don't like this mattress?

Yes, we gladly offer a 90-day trial period. The trial period begins the first night you receive your mattress.

Because of its unique pressure-relieving properties, your Tempur-Pedic® Swedish Mattress™ may require a short adjustment period while your body grows accustomed to a new way of sleeping. We suggest that you sleep on the mattress for at least two weeks; thereafter, at any time during the trial period, if you are dissatisfied, we will arrange for you to return your mattress. You will be only be responsible for return shipping. Should you decide to return your mattress, your refund will be applied in the same form as the initial payment was received. The 90-day trial offer is available only on mattress purchases. Adjustable foundations/frames, pillows, cushions and accessories do not have a trial period and are non-returnable.

If you decide that this is not the right mattress for you, here’s what you need to do: Call us or visit us. You must inform us of your request to return your mattress. We will then contact the manufacturer with the request and they will arrange the pickup process. The pick-up process will take from 2-4 weeks. Keep your original box and plastic bag that came with the mattress when it was delivered at least until the time you make your final decision. When the carriers pick up your mattress, obtain a written receipt from them indicating that you are no longer in possession on the mattress. Once picked up from your home, it generally takes 2 weeks for us to receive written confirmation from the manufacturer's warehouse that the mattress was returned. Upon receipt of this written confirmation, we will promptly apply your refund. You will only be charged for shipping to return the mattress ($200 in the Lower 48 States). If you took advantage of our pillow offers with your mattress order, by law, we cannot accept returns on pillows. You will be charged the full price of the promotional pillows.
